In this pro-life advertisement an African American child looks at the audience with a forlorn expression. The ad is aimed at the African American community, specifically women who may be considering an abortion or those who may seek one in the future. The Black and grayscale of the picture emphasizes the sadness and negative emotions that the group who published the ad wants women to associate with receiving abortions. The text that appears at the top right of the picture is eye catching to viewers with the only color in the ad being the words “Endangered Species” shown in a large yellow font. Below this the website of the company that published the advertisement can be found at “Toomanyaborted.com” a website that claims its purpose is to “celebrate beautiful Possibility in every human life.” The ad is not highly effective as it points out a racial divide and uses the words “Endangered species” which could be considered an insult to the African American community by suggesting their inferiority and that black children are a different species than white children.
